A girl should be two things – who and what she wants – how female leadership is changing our world

Only one in three entrepreneurs in the UK are female, but that could be about to change.

As pandemic-induced burnout becomes more and more common, the thought of striking out on their own has, to some women, become irresistible. The opportunity to be your own boss is compelling but what defines female leadership?

In the 1980s being a female leader was about acting like male leaders – even down to the power dressing.

Today’s generation is more comfortable in their own skin and using feminine leadership traits to succeed with not a shoulder pad in sight.

Skills such as empathy and emotional intelligence, a focus on teamwork and inclusivity, and valuing work-life balance are all helping some of the biggest businesses in the world innovate and grow.

Join the British Business Bank’s Chief Marketing Officer Angelene Woodland to hear about the traits that define today’s female leaders.
