Speaker profile

Stacey Collings is a Senior Scientist in the Chemistry Development Team at Illumina Cambridge where she has worked for nearly 14 years. She is currently a temporary line manager for the SBS (sequencing-by-synthesis) Chemistry Development Team, a group of synthetic chemists with a range of experience from straight out of a master’s degree to having a Ph.D. with several years of industrial experience.

Stacey is also sub-team lead for the chemistry group developing the synthesis and characterisation of new materials who are working as part of a large cross-disciplinary and cross-site project at Illumina.

Her typical role at Illumina in the past has been the use of a wide range of chemistry analytical techniques to characterise the stability and function of new materials as well as the development of novel assays to do the same. She has also used many of Illumina’s sequencers to support formulation development.

Prior to joining Illumina, Stacey had over 5 years of experience as an industrial chemist after gaining an MChem degree at the University of Warwick.
